Sex and the City: the sequel

2008-07-11 14:10:07 - Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis are reportedly set to star in a sequel to the hugely successful 'Sex and the City: The Movie', according to the head of HBO programming.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis are reportedly set to star in a sequel to the hugely successful 'Sex and the City: The Movie'. The quartet are planning to return to the big screen in a follow-up to the movie, which was released earlier this year, according to Michael Lombardo, a head of programming for HBO, the network who originally broadcast the 'Sex and the City' TV series. He said: "There is enormous interest by Warner Brothers Newline to do another Sex and the City, and I think, in fact, they're trying with our help to put that together now. "When that happens, how long it will be, I can't say. I think everybody associated with that project was really heartened by the enthusiasm from the fans of the show." 'Sex and the City' ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2004. The actresses reunited for the movie, but the project was originally held up by Kim Cattrall, who wanted a bigger salary for her role as PR expert Samantha Jones. A final salary was eventually negotiated, but Kim is said to be eager to increase her wage even further if a sequel happens. A source said: "Kim is a smart woman and knows the part she has played in the success of the film. If they want to make a sequel, it's foolish to think they can secure her for the same salary."
