South Carolina Benefit Auctioneer Wins Best of Show Award at National Auctioneers Association (NAA) Convention

Darron Meares, MBA, of Bowtie Benefits, a division of the Meares Auction Group, wins Best of Show Award at the 2008 National Auctioneers Association Conference and Show. Creative marketing and advertising in the auction industry is essential when it comes to the success and growth of an auction company. The annual NAA Marketing Competition allows the association's membership to highlight their innovative creations over the past year and vie for top awards for their marketing and advertising materials. This year's competition was sponsored by USA TODAY and judges reviewed over 1,300 entries; the most entries ever submitted in the history of the competition.
More than 100 categories make up the annual competition with three divisions: Photography, Advertising/Public Relations and Auction of the Year. The categories focused on a myriad of promotional programs and pieces including newspaper/magazine advertising, member web site, television commercial, auction appraisals, business newsletter, news release and more.
The 2008 NAA Marketing Competition Best of Show in the Photography Division was Darron Meares, CAI, GPPA-M, Meares Auction Group, Pelzer, SC. Entries were judged by a panel of marketing professionals with backgrounds in photography, design, printing and multi-media. Criteria reviewed included creativity, effectiveness, clarity, visual appeal and more. All winners will be formally recognized during the NAA Marketing Competition Awards Reception which will take placeon Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the 59th International Auctioneers Conference and Show in Nashville.
Meares is a licensed auctioneer, auction school instructor and COO of the Meares Auction Group. He launched Bowtie Benefits in April of 2008 to assist charities and philanthropies in their find raising endeavors. He is the Education Committee Chairman for the South Carolina Auctioneers Association and also a Board member for the National Auctioneers Association. He has worked with various charitable organizations including the BI-LO Children's Charities, Ronald McDonald House, Meyer Center for Special Children, March of Dimes and various other organizations.
