3,000-plus Expected to Attend Annual Premier Healthcare Alliance Nashville Meeting June 10-13

Premier's annual Breakthroughs Conference and

Exhibition will feature 83 best-practices concurrent sessions, as well as 19 breakfast sessions and plenary sessions with Premier executives and distinguished special guests. Topics include issues ranging from clinical performance improvement and successes to operational improvements to leadership and workforce excellence. The sold-out supplier venue features a record 400-plus contracted suppliers.

"The steady growth in attendance at Premier's Breakthroughs Conference demonstrates the great demand by Premier members and participating suppliers to identify and share opportunities for cost savings and quality improvement, benchmark against the best performers, and measure success," said Premier President and CEO Rick Norling.

"Under the theme 'Transforming Healthcare Together,' collaborative work, tools and best practices will be showcased, demonstrating to our members how together we can achieve our goals," Norling said. Featured speakers and their topics will include:

-- Age Wave President Ken Dychtwald, Ph.D. with a keynote presentation, "Transforming healthcare: Longevity revolution."

-- Tom Olivo, founder of Healthcare Performance Solutions, "Managing the impending crisis: Actionable strategies for healthcare organization."

-- Former U.S. Senators Bill Frist, M.D., a Republican, and Bill Bradley, a Democrat, "The impact of the elections on healthcare: Point-counterpoint."

-- Joe Gibbs, three-time Super Bowl winner as Washington Redskins coach and successful NASCAR owner, wraps up the conference with "Transformation: Perseverance, teamwork and excellence."

On the evening of June 11, Premier's annual awards ceremony will be held in the Grand Ole Opry House with recording star Naomi Judd. Awards for clinical quality, supply chain excellence and innovation, diversity, and contracted supplier performance will be presented.

Breakthroughs also includes Premier's annual Foodservice Forum at which 100 contracted food service suppliers will participate, and Iron Chef Michael Symon will host two breakout sessions. Other sessions will include solutions to off-hours hospital foodservice demands, tips on how to "close the deal," and managing clinical dietitians.

At the annual Culinary Creations dinner on June 12, the winner of the annual Illuminating Excellence Award will be named and attendees will help determine the Culinary Creations contest winner. The four finalists' award-nominated hospital entrees will be served and attendees will vote in real time to choose their favorite.
