Penguin questioned

2008-06-05 21:35:27 -

A penguin was taken by police after it caused traffic problems in New Zealand. A highly unusual spotting, the penguin halted traffic in Porirua, near Wellington on New Zealand's north island, 1 and a half miles from the sea. Local woman Tolugafale Gaualofa spotted the bird waddling along the high street. She said; "It's amazing, a penguin, right in the middle of New Zealand!" Porirua Police took the penguin to their station, where it was later granted freedom and released into the city's harbour. It has not been spotted on dry land since.
