Jail sale

2008-05-29 18:32:19 -

A jail is for sale in America.
The Somerset County Jail in Maine is on the market for $200,000.
The 14,000-square-foot building was built in 1897, and due to shut down later this year when a new prison opens in nearby Madison.
Local estate agents believe the building has a host of strong selling points – it is situated in the heart of Skowhegan and has no zoning or permit-use restrictions.
Philip Roy, chairman of the Somerset County commissioners said: "It's an interesting building. It could be used for many, many things," suggesting turning it into a restaurant, art gallery, gift shop or bus station
