Deborah Receives 2007 Hospital Excellence Award

www.deborah.org - Deborah Heart and Lung Center Donna McArdle, 609-893-1200 ext. 5845 Deborah Heart and Lung Center, a 161-bed specialty heart, lung, and vascular hospital in Browns Mills, was nationally awarded two Excellence Through Insight Awards by HealthStream Research, one of the country's leading companies tracking patient satisfaction ratings. Excellence Through Insight Awards are granted to hospitals that reflect extremely high patient satisfaction scores from 2007 and pertain to the federally mandated HCAHPS patient satisfaction survey.

Out of ten hospitals nationally recognized, Deborah was the only facility in New Jersey or the Greater Philadelphia area. In its category (medium-sized hospitals), Deborah outranked 126 other facilities in the country. Deborah received an Excellence Through Insight Award in the Overall Rating category, which includes a "Best Hospital" rating and a "Willingness to Recommend the Hospital" rating. The second award was given to Deborah's 2 Lesser/Interventional Unit for being one of the best cardiology units in the country.

Patient satisfaction scores are now being closely monitored by the federal government and will soon be used as a benchmark to disperse Medicaid dollars to hospitals. Hospitals that do poorly on patient satisfaction surveys will risk losing part of their reimbursement.
