AlixPartners' Bob Dangremond to be Honored by the American Jewish Committee

2008-05-21 23:53:41 -

- At a luncheon at The Pierre hotel in New York on June 3rd, the Accountants, Bankers and Finance Division of the American Jewish Committee, will bestow its "National Human Relations Award" upon Robert N. Dangremond, a managing director of AlixPartners LLP, the global business-advisory firm, the firm today announced. The American Jewish Committee award recognizes the accomplishments of professionals that excel as leaders in both their industries, as well as in their communities. Receiving the same award at the luncheon will be Henry S. Miller, chairman of Miller Buckfire & Co. LLC, the investment-banking firm.

Dangremond, who joined AlixPartners in 1989, has more than 30 years of experience in finance and corporate restructuring. Recognized for his leadership skills and expertise, he has held advisory and interim senior-management at many large corporations. These include chief executive officer of Refco Inc., where he helped the bankrupt company transition through the sale of its regulated businesses; chief restructuring officer of Mirant Corp., an international energy provider; senior vice president and chief restructuring officer at Harnischfeger Industries Inc., which successfully emerged from Chapter 11 as an independent entity renamed Joy Global Inc.; chief financial officer of Zenith Electronics Corp.; CEO and president of Forstmann & Company Inc.; and chairman and CEO of AM International Corp.; among others.

Dangremond has also held senior-management posts within AlixPartners, at one time co-leading the firm's practice in Europe and at another, co-heading the North American restructuring business.

Prior to AlixPartners, he was CFO and treasurer of Leach & Garner Co., a $2 billion metals-manufacturing and -trading company. He also held positions at Chase Bank Corp. and Scott Paper Co. A graduate of Rutgers University, with an MBA degree from New York University, Dangremond is a director of the Greater New York Council for the Boy Scouts of America, and frequently lectures at business and academic forums throughout the world.

"It's entirely fitting that Bob Dangremond will be receiving this most prestigious award for human relations," said AlixPartners Co-President Peter Fitzsimmons, who will be on hand June 3 to help present the award. "That's because Bob's career has been a shining example of keeping the 'people' part of business foremost in mind, even as he has had to turn around some very difficult business situations. All of us at AlixPartners heartily congratulate Bob on this upcoming award, just as we also congratulate Henry Miller of Miller Buckfire, a firm we often partner with in the cause of corporate renewal."

Over the course of its 102-year history, the non-profit American Jewish Committee has worked to safeguard minorities, fight terrorism, anti-Semitism, hatred and bigotry, as well as to advance human dignity, defend religious freedom and provide humanitarian relief to those in need. Charity Navigator, the nation's largest independent evaluator of philanthropies, has cited the organization with its highest rating for three consecutive years, stating that it "outperforms most charities in America in its efforts to operate in the most fiscally responsible way possible."

Tickets for the National Human Relations Award Luncheon can obtained by calling 1.212.891.1338.
