Global aids pour quake hit China

Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said early Friday morning that the Chinese government accepted offers from the three countries by taking into consideration of their contiguity to China, which may ensure promptness of the aid.

A 31-member Japanese rescue team arrived in the Chengdu airport early on Friday to assist local disaster relief efforts, and they soon left for the hard-hit Guanzhuang Town of Qingchuan County about 400 km away.
Japan's offer of sending a professional emergency relief team to the quake-hit areas showed the Japanese government and people's care, 'especially when China is in a difficult time,' Qin Gang said Thursday at a regular news conference.

Forty-four counties and districts in Sichuan were severely affected by the quake. About half of the 20 million population in these areas were directly affected by the quake, according to the meeting. China"s air force will deploy 60 more helicopters and the other 30 will be provided by the civil aviation industry, according to the headquarters headed by Wen himself. China"s air force, army aviation and civil aviation have made ever largest noncombat air operation since Monday, mobilizing more than 150 airplanes in various relief missions. The air force has deployed more than 40 transporters which delivered about 8,600 rescuers and 200 tons of materials with more than 130 flights in 48 hours after quake

The Xinhua news ageny reports as of 2 p.m. on Thursday, 151 countries and 14 regional or international organizations had offered support in various forms.

China is deeply grateful for the messages of support and the earthquake relief aid coming from the international community, Qin said.

India has offered to send 5 Million dollar aid to China form of tents, shelter for the cylone hit peoples of China as per Foreign Minister press release.

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz has decided to donate 50 million U.S. dollars in cash and 10 million dollars worth of relief materials.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced that his country will provide to China 1 million pounds (about 2 million U.S.) in aid.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said his government will provide a first instalment of 500,000 euros (800,000 U.S. dollars) in aid to the German Red Cross to help China in its relief work.

Also, the Polish Foreign Ministry announced aid worth 100,000 U.S. dollars for China's quake-stricken people.

U.S. embassy to China, on behalf of the U.S. government, Wednesday handed over 500,000 U.S. dollars of cash to the Red Cross Society of China for quake relief in southwestern China.

The White House announced Tuesday that the United States would provide 500,000 dollars in initial aid to China over the devastating quake.

Russia delivered Wednesday its second batch of humanitarian aid to China where a devastating earthquake has claimed nearly 50,000 lives.

A cargo plane from the Emergency Ministry took off here Wednesday evening, carrying some 30 tons of aid to the quake-hit areas.

The first batch of aid arrived at Chengdu, capital of the Sichuan province, earlier Wednesday.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has sent a message of condolence to Chinese President Hu Jintao over the disastrous earthquake and expressed a willingness to offer humanitarian aid.

The Japanese government has decided Tuesday to give 500 million yen (about 5 million U.S. dollars) of emergency grants in aid to China to support the earthquake disaster relief efforts, Japanese Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura announced in the evening.

Komura said the Japanese government made the decision after receiving a request from Beijing, and will consider giving further aid if necessary.

The Vietnamese government has decided to donate 200,000 U.S. dollars to victims of a recent earthquake in China's southwestern Sichuan province, local newspaper Saigon Liberation reported Thursday.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate with relevant agencies to conduct the donation.
