If You've Never Heard of ‘Mode One' Behavior, You Don't Know JACK

Alan Roger Currie, Author of the popular paperback, \"Mode One: Let The Women Know What You\'re REALLY Thinking,\" will be interviewed on BlogTalkRadio on Monday, May 19, 2008 at 9:00 PM EDT / 6:00 PM PST
2008-05-13 09:09:17 - Alan Roger Currie, author of the paperback "Mode One: Let The Women Know What You're REALLY Thinking," has been compared to Dr. Stephen R. Covey, Alfred Kinsey Ph.D., and a fictional character in a popular adult film by the name of "Jack."

There is a self-help paperback being discussed on various websites, blogs, and Internet radio shows that has received both praise and criticism, and has led to discussions, debates, and controversy.

The book is entitled Mode One: Let The Women Know What You're REALLY Thinking, and was written by an author named Alan Roger Currie, a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. The book is currently sold on Amazon.com, BookLocker.com, BarnesAndNoble.com, and on Currie's on website, www.modeone.net.

The book, released in early March 2006, centers on challenging men to increase and improve their level of self-confidence and self-assurance when approaching and interacting with women, as well as encouraging men to be more bold, upfront, and straightforward in expressing their romantic and sexual desires, interests, and intentions.

Some friends and acquaintances have lightheartedly nicknamed him "The Black Stephen R. Covey" because he frequently offers advice to men and women about their dating problems and frustrations that is similar to many of the principles that Dr. Covey espouses. Some would draw casual comparisons to another alumnus of Indiana University, Dr. Alfred C. Kinsey, who pioneered research into the sexual behavior of men and women, and now has an Institute named after him in Bloomington, Indiana that focuses on research related to sexual behavior.

One person that very few people would expect him to be compared to would be a fictional character from an early 80s classic porn film, but by Currie's own admission, this is the comparison that amuses and flatters the author the most. The movie is called Talk Dirty To Me, a film written by Anthony Spinelli, Jr., and directed by his father, Anthony Spinelli. Both are actually mentioned in the Acknowledgements section of Currie's book, Mode One.

The movie, released in 1980, centers on the spontaneous sexual escapades of a notorious womanizer named "Jack," played to perfection by adult film legend, John Leslie. In the movie, the ultra-confident Jack has a knack for seducing women within minutes after making their acquaintance. His talent for "verbal seduction" of women caught Currie's attention as a teenager, and he soon found himself imitating many elements of Jack's behavior with the women he met in his own life. To his surprise, he frequently found himself enjoying some of the same results and responses as Leslie's character of "Jack" did in Talk Dirty To Me.

'I won't lie ... I love that movie to death" said Currie, who is also a fan of the sequel, Talk Dirty To Me, Part II. Currie added, "It's not so much that he gets away with ‘talking dirty' to women without consequence, but it is more so the fact that he is totally unfazed by harsh, subjective criticisms and personal insults from women. That is a key component to the effectiveness of ‘Mode One Behavior'. Becoming totally indifferent to criticism from others." Currie said that at least one manager from an adult film store in Van Nuys, California told him that a demand for the popular adult films Talk Dirty To Me and Talk Dirty To Me, Pt II increased as a direct result of Mode One Behavior being discussed on Internet message boards and blog sites.

Currie, who will be interviewed on the BlogTalkRadio Internet radio network on Monday, said some women have offered criticisms of his "Mode One" philosophy, suggesting that it causes men to pursue casual, non-monogamous sexual companionship from women rather than more meaningful, long-term, emotionally profound monogamous relationships with women. Currie calmly dismisses such criticisms, which he sees as highly invalid. "You will find no sentence, paragraph, page, or chapter in my book where I specifically encourage men to pursue one-night stands or weekend flings over meaningful relationships. Most, if not all men know exactly what they want from women. I just encourage them to be more upfront and straightforward about expressing whatever desires they may have in their conversations with women."

Does Currie recommend to male readers of his book that they exhibit the same brash, provocatively risqué behavior of John Leslie's "Jack" character?? "No" laughs Currie. "I can get away with imitating Jack, but not some young, inexperienced guy who just finished reading my book. Trust me ... I've had a lot of practice."
