New role will combine Sylvester's experience in environmental sector with business development EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Whitman, New Jersey's leading environmental, engineering and management firm, has announced that Michael Sylvester has been promoted to vice president in charge of business development and marketing.
Sylvester joined Whitman in 2005 as director of business operations, providing technical, financial and strategic consultation on environmental investigations, remediation and redevelopment of commercial and industrial properties. He was also responsible for daily business activities and the overall management of Whitman's business development.
'Michael has proven to be a great asset to the company,' said Whitman President Barry Skoultchi. 'He has helped us to not only grow our business and reach new service sectors, but to provide continuous customer service and support to our existing client base.'
Prior to joining Whitman, Sylvester had over 20 years of environmental and engineering experience, including four years with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority's Brownfields Redevelopment Office and various brownfields financing programs, including the state's cornerstone grant for brownfields redevelopment - the Hazardous Discharge Site Remediation Fund.

Sylvester's responsibilities include all corporate business development and marketing strategies, programs and efforts. He is also responsible for all budgets, forecasts and corporate goals as well as general business development and strategic planning.
Sylvester previously served as vice president of Excel Environmental Resources Inc. of North Brunswick, N.J. and TRC/ Vectre Corporation of Lafayette, N.J. He is a graduate of Upsala College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and marketing.
