A headline which was claiming (again) that yet another dead legend and celebrity was part of a pornographic film just made it (again) all over the worldwide news.
This time the headline reads: 'Supposed Hendrix Sex Tape Is Offered,' and it was printed in the well respected New York Times, the biggest newspaper of the United States of America. Another sex tape hoax? Just two weeks ago, the New York Post added a very 'special title' to Marilyn Monroe, an American icon by stating and printing: 'HARDCORE MARILYN.' Yet when Jennifer J. Dickinson, Ernest W. Cunningham and myself were able to debunk this nonsense, which then was also picked up and further exposed and explained (by thesmokinggun.com and Radar magazine besides uncountable others), the NY Post never published a follow-up. And or a correction of their mistake for believing told tales about a claimed 16 mm footage of Marilyn Monroe performing oral sex without having one single piece of evidence for such a very disturbing claim. The similarities between the Monroe hoax and the Jimmy Hendrix sex tape claim are obvious. Maybe too obvious?!

It is up to the viewer now to decide if it is truly the legendary Jimmy Hendrix who is in 'action' and of course that will bring what the sex tape publishing company, Vivid Video wants you to do. They want you to buy it. Interestingly enough it is mentioned by the Times, that Jimmy Hendrix experts already are shaking their heads in disbelieve. It is stated that the person in the '11 minutes sex footage of claimed Jimmy Hendrix' shows his hands in close-up and that the rings the 'actor' in that flick is wearing completely different ones than Mr. Hendrix was known to have owned. A good reason to doubt, but certainly not enough. The difference between the Marilyn Monroe sex tape hoax and the Jimmy Hendrix sex footage claim? Not much if we look into the given details. I personally would pass, even if it for certain would turn out to be the original--Jimmy Hendrix.
Now, we could suspect another publicity stunt, created by some business oriented people like Vivid Co-chairman Steven Hirsch. The estate of Jimmy Hendrix has not yet commented in regards of the news. Which might indicate that they might know more about this? What is important about the news coverage this time around, just two weeks after the Marilyn Monroe sex tape hoax is that the covering media articles are written now much more careful in regards of their claims that the man on the footage is definitely Jimmy Hendrix.
And that might mean a lot to the people, who really care for Mr. Hendrix' legacy and who still love and cherish is outstanding talent. Who will be the next (dead) celebrity or even American legend that will be claimed to be in a pornographic film? Just like Marilyn Monroe had a lot of imitators, wannabes, lookalikes and people who even today are literally live off of by copying the Hollywood actress--the fans of Jimmy Hendrix wanted to be like him. And when Jimmy Hendrix was alive, he certainly influenced his fans to dress, walk, talk and act just like him. So the chance, that the male shown in this claimed 'Jimmy Hendrix sex film footage' is just another lookalike, are extremely high in my opinion. And even if the footage was for real, which I doubt--how can you not forget, watching the footage, that Jimmy Hendrix is dead, just like Marilyn Monroe.
