The WeWhoWalk(TM) Tour sponsored by UnitedHealthcare made its 50th and final stop at Annapolis, Md., today. The tour, which kicked off in Boise, Idaho, on May 1, 2007, has journeyed to 50 state capitals over 50 weeks with community leaders and local residents at each walk. Joining Sue Parks, creator of the tour, was Delegate Bill Bronrott, District 16, The Maryland House of Delegates (sponsor of recently passed bill making walking the official State exercise) and Jim Young, Regional CEO for UnitedHealthcare. The goal of the tour was to raise awareness of the healthful benefits of regular walking for everyone, plus fighting childhood obesity. The recently launched free social networking Web site, www.walkstyles.com, helps walkers (and hikers and joggers) connect with each other to form clubs, track their progress and be inspired.
