WIDS promotes Leah Osborn and Terri Johnson
2013-02-26 23:09:39 - The Worldwide Instructional Design System (WIDS) recently announced the promotions of Leah Osborn to division director, and Terri Johnson to associate director-product development. WIDS, a nonprofit division of the Wisconsin Technical College System Foundation (WTCSF), provides the WIDS Web-based curriculum management application, as well as instructional design consulting and training services to organizations, colleges and schools around the globe.
• In her new role as division director, Osborn will lead and manage WIDS operations and consulting services, as well as provide input into the continual improvement of the WIDS curriculum management application.
Osborn, of Columbia, Conn., started with WIDS in 2000 as a learning design consultant, who collaborated on statewide curriculum initiatives in Wisconsin, and delivered instructional design consulting
services to college, university, K-12 and corporate clients throughout the United States. She was promoted to associate director of consulting services in 2010, where she managed the WIDS consulting and training team, served as project manager of all consulting and training contracts, contributed to the WIDS business plan and mission, and delivered learning design consulting services.
Prior to coming to WIDS, Osborn served as curriculum specialist at Austin Community College in Texas; and as dean of manufacturing, engineering and electronics and at Moraine Park Technical College (Moraine Park) in Fond du Lac, Wis., among others. She holds more than 23 years experience in curriculum design and instruction.
Osborn, who earned her bachelor’s degree in industrial arts education from the University of Vermont, in Burlington, also holds an associate’s degree in computer integrated manufacturing from Moraine Park, and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Texas, in Austin. Additionally, Osborn is engaged in a doctoral program in adult learning at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Conn.
• In her new role, Johnson, of White Bear Lake, Minn., will lead the continual enhancement and development of the WIDS curriculum management system.
Since 1995, Johnson has served WIDS as a trainer/consultant charged with designing and developing complete courses in multiple delivery formats; conducting research and creating learning plans, assessments, rubrics, lesson plans; serving as a facilitator who guides collaborating colleges through the development of curriculum projects; coordinating large curriculum projects and managing project teams; and presenting at colleges and conferences on instructional design, aligning curriculum, and online course development.
Prior to joining WIDS, she served as an instructor at Anoka-Hennepin Technical College in Anoka, Minn.; a technical writer, instructor and curriculum consultant at Moraine Park; a sales trainer at Minnesota Mutual Life in St. Paul, Minn.; and as a member of the human resources staff at Control Data Corp., in Minneapolis.
Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from Bethel College in St. Paul, Minn.
