Golf fans who enjoy playing fantasy golf based on the men's professional golf tours have
the luxury of selecting from a wide range of online games. Fans who wish to play fantasy golf based on the ladies tours quickly discover that they have few, if any options. That’s about to change.
Registration is now open for Ladies Dream Golf which debuts for the 2013 Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Season. Fantasy play will commence on February 11, 2013—three days prior to the start of the 2013 LPGA Season at the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open.
All 28 official tournaments comprising the 2013 LPGA Season are included in Ladies Dream Golf. Leaderboards will be posted for each individual tournament, as well as an overall season leaderboard. Extra fantasy games for the Solheim Cup and the newly announced LPGA International Crown will be provided for Ladies Dream Golf fantasy players.
Kelley Shaw, the developer of the new Ladies Dream Golf fantasy online golf game enjoys playing fantasy golf based on the men’s tours, but knows more about the woman players on the LPGA, LET, and ALPG. Shaw imagined that if she were playing ladies fantasy golf, she would be at the top of the fantasy leaderboard since she’d be picking from a field of players she follows closely.
"Thousands of golf fans participate in dozens of fantasy golf games available on the internet—almost all based exclusively on the men’s tours," Shaw said. "Late last year, the Golf Channel announced that they will incorporate the LPGA Major tournaments in their fantasy golf game in 2013, which is great news, but the Majors comprise only 5 of the 28 LPGA tournaments in the 2013 Season."
Shaw decided to take matters into her own hands. What started as a simple game created for her and a few of her friends blossomed into a full-fledged fantasy golf game and website, complete with leaderboards, fantasy player stats and discussion forums.
Professional ladies golf is growing as fan interest increases. There are some tremendously talented woman golfers around the world today. If social media is any indication, many of these ladies can boast thousands of dedicated fans. At last check, Paula Creamer, the #12 ranked woman player in the world, has over 118,000 Twitter followers. Yani Tseng, the #1 ranked player has almost 72,000 “Likes” on Facebook.
Additionally, there has been quite a buzz among LPGA fans in response to several exciting announcements released in January of 2013. First, three new tournaments were added to the schedule for 2013. Then came the announcement of the new LPGA International Crown, a biennial, global match play competition commencing in 2014 that will feature teams from eight countries.
The launching of Ladies Dream Golf is one more bit of good news in the line of good news that just keeps coming for for fans and players of the LPGA.

Ladies Dream Golf, launched in February 2013, was born as a labor of love--the love of ladies professional golf and the love of friendly competition. Kelley Shaw, the developer of Ladies Dream Golf and golf fanatic, had a simple desire--she wanted to play fantasy golf based on the LPGA Tour. She scoured the internet and was surprised that she found absolutely nothing. Kelley enjoys a challenge, so she decided to create her own fantasy golf game, which has evolved into the Ladies Dream Golf website. In its current incarnation, Ladies Dream Golf is free to participants, yet offers no prizes, other than the enjoyment of competing and interacting with other ladies’ golf fans. Kelley’s vision is to add sponsors when the Ladies Dream Golf community grows large enough to attract sponsors.
