The former Bay Area resident has settled in Los Angeles, CA and will be releasing "Poets on the Wall" in April of 2013 Dave Armo Releases Poets on the Wall, A Visual Story Set to Music
Los Angeles, February 2013 Never known no better occupation other than my own creation sings Dave Armo on the song “Destination Estimation” from his upcoming release, Poets on the Wall (April 2013). This singer-songwriter knows of what he speaks. Attorney by day and songwriter by night, Armo
practices law to help fund his love of music and songwriting.
Poets on the Wall is the third album from Dave Armo, preceded by Late Night Conversations (2004) and A Leaf in the Breezeway (2007). The Bay Area native has been living in Southern California for several years and has written and recorded music all throughout California. Along with his surroundings, Armo’s writing is heavily inspired by literature which led to Deli Magazine claiming that “Dave (Armo) has a way with words; he crafts stories from the heart and it’s like listening to a novel set to song
The genuine honesty of the lyrics help breathe the stories of Poets on the Wall to life, taking the listener on life journey of love, regret, perseverance and hope. Never self-indulgent, Armo peppers this honesty with bits of wittiness and verve and his strong sense of melody rounds out the songs as a whole.
A visual storyteller, while listening to his songs you will often find yourself picturing the story behind the words. “May This Time Never End” tells of a letter that contains all the words and sentiments wishing to be expressed, but said too late. “It Has Been So Cold in California” reflects the highs and lows of songwriting and rock dreams, while “Blacked out on Broadway” recalls a wild time in life. “Poets on the Wall the title track is an homage to inspiration and the standout track, “Destination Estimation” portrays hope in the face of uncertainty, which is driven by trust in one’s own instinct.
With Poets on the Wall, Dave Armo continues to produce melodic and truthful songs and he tells these song-stories with grace, compassion and, when needed, humor.
In his own words, “For a songwriter that looks to find meaning, there is no substitute for experience—daily life. The highs and lows can often be the best foundation for a meaningful song."
Elements of folk, pop, and rock lushly float through Armo’s music in ways that make the music sound both familiar and unique. Poets on the Wall is a great example of what good songwriters can do and should cement Dave Armos place in the independent songwriting community.
