Online mapping service from Geoplan locates customers, sales territories and new markets

2010-03-01 11:04:59 - Pay-per-use service offers flexibility and cost savings for users

Businesses can now identify new customers, markets and sales territories via a new online mapping service from Geoplan, which uses geographic technology and data to help users plan a wide range of sales and marketing activities. Called Geoplan Online, the Pay-Per-Use web-based service enables users to locate both existing and potential customers, assess competitor activity, as well as plan new

territories, locations for outlets and sales campaigns.

Targeted at marketing, operations and distribution applications across the Business Intelligence, Enterprise Resource Planning and Corporate Management markets, Geoplan Online presents users with informative on-screen maps and reports that allow them to analyse their sales data with the utmost clarity. They can also share results with ease and provide their sales force with the information they need to work with more precision.

For instance, users can combine geographic information with their own sales and territorial data to plan the best locations for new premises, or more effectively understand the impact of competitor activity on their own performance. Businesses can identify new sales opportunities from demographic data for their local region, and view on a map how their markets are segmented to plan sales campaigns with street-specific precision.

In addition, users can upload and visualise their own business performance information and geographies, including customer and competitor locations, shaded performance maps, sales territories and catchments. This allows them to identify gaps or overlaps in their strategy as well as new opportunities.

Geoplan Online, developed in association with Tactician, is offered to customers as a hosted Software As A Service (SaaS) product, on a Pay-Per-Use basis. Training requirements and user expertise are minimal, and the service can be integrated with existing Tactician desktop applications as required, or tailored for specific requirements.

“This technology has a proven track record in regions as diverse as the USA and Japan, and builds on our 20 years of experience in desktop solutions,” commented John Taylor, managing director of Geoplan. “It also represents the first step for Geoplan in adding a global dimension to our business as well as some major service developments including online and pay-per-use services for our customers.”
