Research and Markets ( www.researchandmarkets.com/research/5577e0/pharmadeal_financi : cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww .. ) has announced the addition of the " PharmaDeal Financials Oncology : cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww .. " database table to their offering.

database. Of the 221 companies included in the database, Exelixis leads the rank of licensors both in number of early stage deals and in the total number of licensing deals established.
Novartis, GlaxoSmithKline, Roche and its recently acquired Genentech belong to the top licensees with regard to the number of deals closed.

Around 50% of the deals established by the latter are antibody-related.
Antibody-related licenses remain popular and count for 24% of all licensing deals closed. Vaccines were also a popular licensing target.
In around 10% co-development alliances were set up. Co-promotion rights by licensors were obtained in more than 20%, remarkably also if the license only covered certain countries. Potential deal sizes and upfront payments by big pharma to different licensors were found to vary 100% or more for similar compound classes in preclinical development. Compound value creation did show to have an effect on potential deal sizes, one of the best examples being NeoTherapeutics' platinum compound, which was sublicensed by GPC Biotech to Pharmion Corporation.
