Media Advisory: CORO Convenes Key Water Leaders to Discuss Historic California Water Legislation

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/10/09 --

WHAT:       The historic agreement approved by lawmakers earlier this month

            to overhaul California's antiquated water system and preserve

            the endangered Bay-Delta ecosystem will take center stage at a

            luncheon hosted by CORO, featuring top federal and state

            leaders as well as key stakeholders from the urban,

            environmental and farming interests.



            In the first public forum about the legislation since its

            passing, speakers and panelists will share unique perspectives

            about the comprehensive package of five water bills, and an

            $11 billion bond measure to fund them, slated to come before

            California voters in 2010.

            Deputy Secretary Hayes joined by a panel of experts that

            --   Barry Nelson, senior policy analyst for the Natural

                 Resources Defense Council

            --   Debra Man, chief operating officer of the Metropolitan

                 Water District of Southern California



            The panel will be moderated by Ron Gastelum, executive director

            of the Southern California Water Committee and co-chair of the

            L.A. Chamber Committee on Energy, Water and the Environment.
