Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, one of the world’s leading law firms, announced that partner Michael E. Horowitz was appointed to the Board of Directors of The Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.

"We are extremely pleased to have Mr. Horowitz to serve on our Board and value his outstanding expertise," said Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law Executive Director Barbara Arnwine. "It

is through the unparalleled service and commitment of our Board members that we are able to continue the quest of justice and equality for all."

The Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, was formed in 1963 at the request of President John F. Kennedy to involve the private bar in providing legal services to address racial discrimination. The principal mission of the Lawyer’s Committee is to secure, through the rule of law, equal justice. Board members are chosen for their experience as leaders in the fight for equal justice.

“We are proud that The Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights Under Law has chosen Michael to join their board – his wealth of experience, leadership, and passion for the law will be a valuable asset in the effort to support equal justice,” said Christopher White, Cadwalader’s Chairman. “His work with the organization is also emblematic of Cadwalader’s commitment to public service and to fostering diversity and inclusion.”

Mr. Horowitz noted that “I am looking forward to working with my fellow board members to further the interests of racial and ethnic minorities and to applying Cadwalader’s pro bono resources and those of the bar for civil rights litigation and public policy advocacy.”

Mr. Horowitz is a partner in Cadwalader’s Business Fraud and Complex Litigation Group and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

Drawing on his experience as a high-level official at the Justice Department in Washington and the U.S. Attorney's Office in New York City, Mr. Horowitz counsels and represents corporations and individuals in complex civil litigation matters, and on a variety of criminal and regulatory issues, including securities, antitrust, health care, banking, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and white collar crime matters.
