Niche Media CEO and Founder Jason Binn has promoted Cristina Cuomo to Group Editor of Niche Media, it was announced today. Binn also stated that Samantha Yanks has been named Editor-in-Chief of Gotham and Hamptons magazines. Yanks had been Director of Fashion & Accessories for Niche Media. SAMANTHA YANKS TO EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF GOTHAM AND HAMPTONS MAGAZINES;
EXPANDS FASHION & ACCESSORIES DEPARTMENT
New York, NY – November 5, 2009 –
“With Cristina’s keen eye, I am confident she will help elevate the editorial sensibility of our
magazines,” said Binn. Added Cuomo: "Niche Media has experienced great successes, and I am excited to contribute to, and leverage, the creativity of the in-market editorial teams.” Prior to becoming Editor-in-Chief of Gotham and Hamptons in 2001, Cuomo founded and ran Manhattan File.
As Editor-in-Chief of Gotham and Hamptons magazines, Yanks will oversee two of Niche Media’s flagship titles out of the company’s New York corporate headquarters “Over the past five years at Niche Media, Samantha has done an amazing job understanding our audience and our business model,” said Binn.
Added Yanks: “I am thrilled to have this opportunity, especially when it comes to these two magazines. No two communities are closer to my heart than New York City and the Hamptons.” Yanks’ experience includes three-and-half years at Vogue magazine where she rose from fashion assistant to accessories editor. Prior to joining Niche, she was Senior Accessories Editor at O The Oprah Magazine, where she oversaw the department and assisted Oprah Winfrey in compiling her monthly “O List.”
Additionally, Niche Media’s fashion department is being expanded to include four fashion editors: Lindsay Brooke Cohen, Benjamin Setiawan, Lauren Terrill and Amanda Weiner. “Niche Media’s titles are a go-to source for lifestyle goods across the country,” said Binn. “With this incredible team at the helm of our fashion and accessories pages, we will continue be the style leaders in the cities where we are located.”
