LOS ANGELES (AP) - Only a small number of fans will be able to attend Michael Jackson's memorial service. But others may be able to watch it in movie theaters all over the United States.
Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp. is carrying the Los Angeles memorial service on its live digital network to theaters nationwide.
Cinedigm spokeswoman Suzanne Moore said she expected about 50 theaters would carry the memorial service. Among those confirmed to show the service were cinemas in about 20 states, including venues in Atlanta; Las Vegas; Topeka, Kansas; Mobile, Alabama; Pensacola, Florida; Lansing, Michigan; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Utica, New York.
Locations and details will be updated on the company's Web site, www.cinedigm.com.
Admission will be free based on space availability.
More than 1.6 million people registered to win tickets for the memorial service at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. Only 8,750 names were chosen, each of whom received two free tickets.
