LONDON (AP) - The British military says two of its soldiers have been killed in southern Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Defense says a soldier from 2nd Battalion The Mercian Regiment was killed by a rocket propelled grenade attack, and another soldier from The Light Dragoons was killed in an explosion.
It says both attacks took place near Gereshk in Helmand province on Saturday.
The ministry said Sunday that the soldiers' next of kin have been informed.
A total of 173 British personnel have died in Afghanistan since 2001.
