Yankees edge Blue Jays in 12 innings

NEW YORK (AP) - Jorge Posada hit a game-winning single in the 12th inning to lift the New York Yankees to a 6-5 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League on Saturday.
With one out and runners on first and second, Posada lined a pitch into center field. Alex Rodriguez scored without a
play at the plate.
The Yankees have won nine of 10 to move a season-best 14 games above .500 and pull within a game of AL East-leading Boston.
Toronto has lost six of seven.
Mariners 3, Red Sox 2
In Boston, Chris Woodward's bases-loaded pop up in the ninth inning dropped behind a partially drawn-in infield, scoring the go-ahead run that lifted Seattle over Boston.
Seattle capitalized on Boston pitcher Takashi Saito's wildness for the winning rally. Saito walked the bases loaded with one out before Woodward's pop up, which scored the runner from third easily.
Rangers 12, Rays 4
In Arlington, Texas, Andruw Jones homered and drove in four runs as Texas crushed Tampa Bay and notched a fourth straight win.
Michael Young added a three-run double and the Rangers roughed up David Price to win their fourth in a row.
Jones' three-run shot in the first and Michael Young's bases-loaded three-run double gave the Rangers a 6-1 lead against an erratic David Price. They Rays pitcher gave up a career-high six runs in 1 1-3 innings and walked five in the shortest of his nine career starts.
Twins 4, Tigers 3
In Minneapolis, Justin Morneau had four hits, including a homer and the tying single in the seventh inning, as Minnesota came back to beat Detroit.
The winner came in the eighth. Nick Punto poked a soft single over the outstretched glove of the shortstop to allow the pinch-runner to score on a head-first slide at the plate, just ahead of the relay throw.
The result pulled the Twins within three games of the AL Central-leading Tigers.
Angels 11, Orioles 4
In Anaheim, California, Vladimir Guerrero hit a three-run homer and had four RBIs as Los Angeles used a late rally to beat Baltimore.
Guerrero capped a six-run eighth by hitting a pitch to left field. The Angels batted around the order in the eighth.
Royals 6, White Sox 4
In Kansas City, Missouri, Alberto Callaspo drove in three runs to help Kansas City snap Chicago's seven-game winning streak.
The Royals eclipsed their run total from their previous four games put together.
Callaspo hit an RBI triple in the fifth for Kansas City's first run in 13 innings. His two-run single in the fifth made it 5-4 and gave the Royals their first lead for 38 innings. Callaspo's errors at second base had figured in Kansas City's four-game losing streak.
It was the Royals' first win in seven tries this season against the White Sox.
Indians 5, Athletics 2
In Cleveland, pitcher Carl Pavano earned his first win in five starts, helping Cleveland defeat Oakland.
The Indians may be struggling this year but stretched their winning streak over the Athletics to six.
