The College of Business Administration : cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww .. at San Diego State University ( SDSU : cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww .. ) announced today that Donald E. Felsinger, chairman and CEO of Sempra Energy, has been named the 2009 Academy of International Business’ (AIB) International Executive of the Year. Felsinger was nominated for the award by SDSU’s College of Business Administration.

AIB provides the award on an annual basis to an executive who has bolstered a company’s international operations and has made lasting contributions to the global community.

The award was presented to Felsinger on June 27, 2009 during AIB’s annual meeting in San Diego by Dr. Gail Naughton, dean of the SDSU’s College of Business Administration. Felsinger was honored for heading Sempra Energy’s commitment to providing clean, reliable energy on an international level. These efforts include the construction of several pipelines in Baja California, Mexico, allowing the Mexican customers the ability to use safer and cleaner natural gas in their homes and businesses rather than diesel fuel, oil and propane.

Sempra Energy also has developed a groundbreaking liquefied natural gas receipt terminal in Mexico; operates or partly owns several utilities in California, Mexico, Peru, Chile and Argentina; and partnered with the Royal Bank of Scotland on a global commodities business that has offices in the United Kingdom, Canada, Singapore, Switzerland, China, Japan, Sweden, Spain and Korea. Through these and other initiatives, the company serves more than 29 million consumers worldwide.

“I am proud to receive this award and view it as recognition that our company is having a positive impact globally,” said Felsinger. “At Sempra Energy, we are guided by a basic maxim: ‘Energy has no borders’.”

“On behalf of SDSU’s College of Business Administration, we are pleased to be able to announce and present AIB’s selection of the 2009 International Executive of the Year to Mr. Felsinger,” said Naughton.

“Sempra Energy’s continued support of providing clean, safe energy on an international scale speaks volumes about their commitment to improving the human condition on a global basis.”
