LIL WAYNE DOCUMENTARY GETS COURT CLEARANCE

Rap superstar LIL WAYNE has lost his court battle to block the release of a documentary about his life.
The Lollipop hitmaker, real name Dwayne Carter Jr., filed suit against film executives at Quincy Jones III's QD3 Entertainment, alleging they reneged on a deal to give the star final approval on the movie, titled The Carter, before its release.
The documentary, which was directed by Adam Bhala Lough, was well received by critics when it was shown at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah earlier this year (09).
However, Carter's representatives denounced the project as a "scandalous portrayal" of the MC, reportedly taking issue with scenes showing his alleged drug use.
Wayne subsequently sued for fraud and breach of contract after moviemakers failed to adhere to his demands to remove the controversial footage.
But the rapper has failed in his bid to ban the film's release - Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Mink denied Wayne's request for a preliminary injunction this week (begs20Apr09), leaving QD3 bosses free to shop around for a distribution deal, reports Variety.
And Jones III is delighted with the news: "We're very pleased with the court's decision. We made a great film, which was incredibly well received at Sundance, and showcases Lil Wayne's extraordinary talent."
