PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) - A U.N. spokeswoman says a 21-year-old Haitian student was killed and another injured when a U.N. vehicle struck their motorcycle.
U.N. mission spokeswoman Sophie Boutaud de la Combe says the collision occurred Friday in the southwestern city of Jeremie.
She says the student died on the scene. The identity and nationality of the U.N. vehicle's driver were not immediately released.
U.N. officials visited the student's family to offer assistance and are investigating the incident.
Radio Metropole reports that some protesters were in Jeremie's streets Monday denouncing the U.N.
About 9,000 U.N. soldiers and police and additional civilian staff have been in Haiti to provide security since 2004.
