2009-02-25 15:26:00 -

Serious Materials today announced that its line of windows, SeriousWindows", not only save energy and money - but because of the stimulus bill (The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009) signed last week by President Obama, many of the windows qualify for a credit of up to $1,500 on your federal income tax*. Unlike many windows on the market,

SeriousWindows meet the energy efficiency requirements needed to qualify for this new tax credit. For more information on which products qualify, visit: www.seriouswindows.com/taxcredit.

Under the stimulus bill, homeowners can get federal tax credits for "qualified energy-efficient improvements," which include windows, doors and skylights. The new tax credits are for 30 percent of the cost of eligible products up to a limit of $1,500. Qualifying window and door products must have a U-Factor of 0.30 or lower and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of 0.30 or lower. This is equal to an R-value of 3.3 or higher. SeriousWindows and Doors are already putting money in consumers' pockets by reducing energy bills by up to 50 percent and now they also provide financial incentives for home owners to make energy-saving, green home improvements in 2009 and 2010.

Many windows on the market today do not meet these minimum standards. According to the ENERGY STAR website, "Not all ENERGY STAR-labeled windows and skylights qualify for tax credit." Most SeriousWindows and Doors do qualify for the tax credit. SeriousWindows are available from an R5 to R11 as certified by NFRC, compared to an average of less than R3 from the competition. For more information on which products qualify, visit: www.seriouswindows.com/taxcredit. The tax credits are for homeowners that purchase and install energy-saving products in their homes between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.

"SeriousWindows qualify for this new tax credit, helping put money back into consumers' pockets with energy-saving home improvements," said Ian Sullivan, vice president and general manager, Windows Division. "Not only is there a $1500 tax credit available, but SeriousWindows range of products are energy-efficient, reducing energy bills and saving consumers money for years to come. By maximizing the energy-efficiency of homes, Serious Materials is providing consumers with a reduced need for energy which results in money savings, both short- and long-term."

SeriousWindows are available in a full range of styles, including single-hung, double-hung, gliders, casement, sliding doors and swing. Additionally, windows are available in a composite stainable woodgrain interior finish for high-end homes. Residential windows may be ordered now through authorized dealers across the U.S. Customers may call (800) 797-8159 for more information.
