'As the primary male role model, fathers influence their daughters in profound ways-from how they see themselves, to what they come to expect from men, and the world at large,' states Derek Phillips, founder & executive director of Real Dads Network. 'In short, a daughter's self-concept as a female is largely shaped by this early relationship and fathers play an important role.'
At this year's event, real dads and proud poppas can show off their little princesses for a semi-formal evening of dining, dancing, karaoke, games and not to be missed fun. This event promises to be one of memorable proportions.

The Real Dads Network and Proud Poppa Magazine are committed to Making Connections One Dad at a Time by helping to strengthen and re-build families, promote active and necessary participation of dads in their children's lives, and most of all vocalize the fact these fathers are truly 'accounted for and present.'

Founded in 2005 by Derek Phillips, the Real Dads Network is an outgrowth of the award-winning documentary Real Dads-Black Men on Fatherhood, narrated by the legendary late Ossie Davis. It is an organization that is committed to strengthening the institution of Black Fatherhood by promoting positive images and connecting men with resources designed to empower them. A veteran community organizer and fatherhood activist, Phillips has been instrumental in the Black Fatherhood Summit, as well as featured on a number of other agenda-focused forums like BET's 'Black Men the Truth.' He frequently facilitates workshops, conferences and summits to discuss men taking responsibility in their communities.

Salahadeen Betts serves as publisher and creative director of Proud Poppa Magazine, an affirming publication that offers real-talk insight into health, wellness and wealth to dads determined to make a difference in the lives of their children.
