2008-08-08 13:07:02 - Britain's Princess Anne will commission and name a new yacht for the Disabled Sailing Association in Torbay, South Devon, in October.

Britain's Princess Anne will commission and name a new yacht for the Disabled Sailing Association in Torbay, South Devon, in October. The 57-year-old royal will visit the Torquay Town Dock on October 2 when she will have the opportunity to explore the £80,000, 35ft vessel the association bought after winning some money in the National Lottery's People's Millions earlier this year. Dave Musgrove, the chairman of the association, said: "We made an application for a visit from the Princess Royal through Sailability, as she is the patron, and we are so pleased she is coming down to commission and name our boat. "Our members are over the moon at this news, and are really proud that Princess Anne will be down to the Town Dock to see our boat. "It is the crowning moment for the operation to get this boat for the disabled community." However, Mr. Musgrove added not every single member of the association will be able to attend the prestigious ceremony. He said: "We have to limit it the ceremony to 100 and that includes dignitaries, but, as not all our members will be able to attend due to work and holidays, we should be able to accommodate quite a few."
