Britain's Prince Philip will visit a historic club in Norfolk next Monday (28.07.08). The Duke of Edinburgh has been an honorary member of Norwich's Norfolk Club since 1954. During his planned two-hour visit, the prince will enjoy a special lunch focussing on Norfolk produce. Club president Paddy Seligman said: "I am delighted the Duke of Edinburgh has accepted our invitation to lunch with former presidents and officers of the club. It is an immense honour for us all and will be a memorable occasion. We very much look forward to welcoming His Royal Highness." The club dates back to 1770 and is made up of professionals and business men and woman from Norwich and the surrounding area. The prince is also due to visit The Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble, Southampton in August. His visit will mark the official opening of the rebuilt pier there and the restored cottages which form the club' s new accommodation. Philip was Admiral of the club from 1952 and 2002 and is now its patron. Mrs Annette Newton, Commodore of the club said: "We are absolutely thrilled that the Duke of Edinburgh has agreed to visit the club to mark the restoration of the cottages and the pier. "His Royal Highness has been a club member for over 50 years and we look forward to seeing him again in August."
