2008-08-13 13:06:03 - Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik and his wife Mary have attended a series of events in Beijing.

Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik and his wife Mary have attended a series of events in Beijing. The royal couple - who first met each other at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney - visited an exhibition which detailed 400 years of cultural exchange between China and Denmark. The show was held at the famous Prince Gong's Palace in the centre of the city, and the couple spent some time touring the rare collection of paintings and furniture on display. The aim of the event is to show how eastern culture has inspired Danish artists. The prince - who is keen to be invited to join the International Olympic Committee next year - was also due to watch his cousin Princess Nathalie of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg compete in the dressage event this week. Other royals attending the Olympics include Monaco's Prince Albert - who has completed in the bobsled event at the winter Olympics on several occasions - and Britain's Princess Anne, who represented her country in the Equestrian event at the 1976 Montreal games.
