Prime’s Human Resource department is currently partnering with Airborne Angel Cadets of Texas : to send care packages to American Soldiers serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Middle East. Airborne Angel Cadets of Texas (ACT) operates year round sending care packages to soldiers in all branches of the service, concentrating their efforts on soldiers on the frontlines. “We have 10 of our Dallas area commercial buildings and affiliate offices participating in the program. Family Gateway is a registered 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that relies on the generosity of the Dallas community to help provide transitional housing and a comprehensive continuum of care to families with children experiencing homelessness. “The children’s reading center was in need of several bookcases that we were able to provide as well as a refrigerator for the daycare center. When I discovered this organization I was happy to know Prime Income would be willing to donate in any way we could. In these tough economic times it’s more important than ever to find ways to give,” comments Chris Childress, Vice President of Administration. For the past 5 years Prime has held an annual cell phone donation drive for Cell Phones For Life, INC. : . This year over 35 phones were donated. Cell Phones For Life supports over 90 shelters all over the U.S. with free emergency use cell phones. These phones are provided to the elderly, the disabled, and to battered women. One of Prime’s apartment communities, Portofino at Mercer Crossing, held an unconventional event to encourage people to donate to Toys for Tots : . On December 1 st Andrea Bradford, Manager of Portofino at Mercer Crossing, camped out on top of an eight foot Christmas present during the toy drive. The Apartment Association of Greater Dallas challenged its members to bring in as many toys as possible. “I love a challenge and I love helping kids. So when I heard about the project, I wanted to come up with something no one else was doing,” said Andrea. “And that’s how the idea for an eight foot Christmas present was started.” The event collected 450 presents and $200 in donations.
