Tired of those ugly Black Stains?

So was All American Pressure Cleaning! After seeing and hearing the need for a professional roof cleaning company in the Savannah area, AAPC decided to make the investment in the equipment to properly and safely clean asphalt shingles. "The Roof-Medic" is the result and your answer to a clean roof!

Our roof cleaning process is the

most effective method to safely renew the appearance of most any type of shingle composition.

The process utilizes a patented, biodegradable, shingle-friendly detergent along with low-pressure rinsing. The results will save thousands of dollars compared to roof replacement. If you have roof stains (it's actually algae), you will be amazed at the difference we can make.

While we have the most advanced pressure wash systems available, we do not use them while cleaning yoru roof.

How do I know if my roof is dirty?

It is easy to see on most homes while the growth is in process; there are dark black streaks all over the place. (Starts on the north part first) Though once the algae has fully taken over it is sometimes hard to tell. (No, its never to late!)

The best place to look to find out if your roof is dirty is on the down-side (under) of the chimney, the metal vent pipes and/or the vents. There you should find a lighter color... That is the original color when you have a clean roof. And that is what yours will look like after we are done with the roof service!

How Much Does it Cost?
For quick estimates:
One-story: Add the living area square footage and the garage together. Then add 20% for the pitch. (500sqft for 2-car garage)

Two-story: Measure the outside area of your home and add 20% for the pitch.

Most Roofs:
1500 SqFt (home) + 500 SqFt (Garage) x 1.20 (20% Pitch) = 2400
2400 SqFt (Including pitch) x .15c = $360.00

Extremely Steep Roofs:
1500 SqFt (home) + 500 SqFt (Garage) x 1.36 (36% Pitch) = 2720
2720 SqFt (Including pitch) x .15c = $408.00

Roof Contractor:
Roof contractors talks in "Squares" when it comes to roofs. So, if you had someone tell you your roof is 24 "Squares" they have done all the hard math and all you have to do:

24 squares x $15 = $360.00

How do I figure out the pitch?

Measuring Pitch is pretty difficult and really not needed. Most roofs are between 3:12 - 9:12, if that's you, we will charge 20% for the pitch. If you look at your roof and think, "That is so steep I wouldn't even get up there." Then we will probably charge you 36% for the pitch.

Read below for more details.
www.ehow.com/how_12769_determine-pitch-roof.html

Low-pitched slope:
Have at least a 3:12 pitch, which means that a roof rises 3 feet for every 12 feet of its base horizontal length. This type is considered to be walkable, and easy for performing a roof cleaning.

Medium-pitched slope:
Fall within 6:12 - 9:12 roofing slope range. This kind requires special equipment such as roofing jacks, and planks to perform cleaning. They represent a higher degree of complexity and are more time to clean.

High-pitched slope:
Anything steeper than 9:12 roofing slope. The high-sloped roof is perhaps the most difficult roof to work on. Because these are non walkable, you may expect to pay a higher price. High sloped roofs command the use of special protective fall equipment. Hence our justification for a higher price.

What are the black stains?

About 99% of roof stains on roofs in Savannah are caused by Gloeocapsa Magma, although most people think these ugly black or dark brown stains dirt, tree droppings or mold. There are other types of fungi and algae that also cause staining and we will kill them as well.

Algae growth on roofs occurs to varying degrees in all regions of the country, especially those subjected to warm humid conditions like Savannah. Nearly all types of roofing materials are susceptible to staining and discoloration. It is, of course, most visible on lighter colored roofs and less visible on darker shades of roofing.

Will pressure washing do any damage?

Yes. Pressure washing with high pressure at a close range can and will dislodge the granules from the surface of the shingles and can scar the shingles causing more problems then you started with. Not only that, but pressure washing alone will not help with the mold algae and roof stain removal. To stop the algae from growing and feeding you need the roof cleaning products.

We use a low pressure cleaning process to clean your roof. We just apply our A.R.M.A approved chemicals to the roof and use garden hose pressure to rinse the algae and mildew from your roof without damage. The roof cleaner is what does all the work, the roof cleaner dissolves the mold, mildew and algae so that we can use a low pressure rinse to wash away the roof coatings.

Take a look at the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association

Will bleach or chlorine damage my roof?

Absolutely Not. Somewhere, somehow there has become a negative view on using Bleaches and Chlorines. Using these chemicals is actually recommended by the roof manufactures. They actually go on to say that high pressure washing systems should Not be used for removing algae.

As for your plants and grass, we take all precautions in handling your landscaping. We have 2-3 person teams to make sure everything is watered before, during and after to dilute all chemicals. We take care of your home and lawn as though it is our own.

The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association has written a technical bulletin addressing proper cleaning procedures for asphalt shingle roofs with this growth, and it is those procedures that we follow exclusively.

Should I do-it-myself or hire a professional?

Doing your roof cleaning yourself is really up to you. You need to ask yourself this question, "Is saving the labor costs worth the risk of damaging my roof, or worse, falling off?" You can buy roof cleaner at the local hardware stores, but we find that most people are not satisfied with the results. The wrong roof cleaner can leave you with streaks and dead plants and grass. In addition, the roof becomes wet and slippery while cleaning making it unsafe and not recommended without proper equipment.

So to help answer this question, (of course we feel) hiring a professional is always the better option.

Will cleaning my roof really save me money?

Yes. Cleaning your roof can save you money in more ways then one...
First, the algae and fungus that grows can cause premature roof granule loss, and shorten roof shingle life. So you save money because you roof lasts longer and you won't need to replace it.

Second, when the algae turns your roof black, it becomes less reflective, and it retains heat; so your air conditioner works harder to overcome the increased heat load, costing money in electric bills.
Third, the aesthetics of cleaning your roof when it comes to selling your home can not only save you money but can make you money too.

How long does it take?
Roof cleaning from start to finish with an average area of 2,000 sqft can take anywhere from 2 - 4 hours. For a 2,000 - 3,000 sqft it takes about 3-5 hours. Other factors like if it is multi-layer and/or has many gables and angles cause it to take longer.

Roof cleaning is a full day's job!
