CMS Energy Corporation (CMS) is an integrated energy company. Through its two principal subsidiaries, Consumers Energy and CMS Enterprises, CMS is engaged in independent power production, providing natural gas and electricity, and natural gas transmission. The company operates mainly in the US and in selected markets around the world.
CMS recorded revenues of $6,810 million during the fiscal year ended December 2006, an increase of 8.3% over 2005. This was driven by increase in electric delivery revenues. But the company´s revenue recorded a negative CAGR of 6% during 2002-2006.
CMS generates power from four fossil fuel generating plants, 13 hydroelectric plants, a pumped storage generating plant, and several combustion-turbine plants. The company´s principal subsidiary, Consumers Energy, has a total owned electricity generation capacity of 5,674 MW and generated 23,916 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity during 2006.
