www.trcsolutions.com - Russell Whitmarsh, a 34 year veteran of the maritime security industry, has joined TRC as its Maritime Port Security Senior Consultant.

Whitmarsh has extensive domestic and international law enforcement and security experience and has spent much of his career on the front lines of port security. As the Manager of Security and Chief of

Police at the port of Houston for 22 years, he developed the master security plan for the port and secured $38 million in additional grant money for critical security infrastructure improvements.

"Post 9/11, our ports are implementing new systems and procedures that have become part of marine port business operations," said Gregory Brandon, Vice President, Security Design and Engineering for TRC. "Russell's experience in port operations and security systems combined with our engineering and design capabilities will allow us to deliver more effective security services to our port clients."

Whitmarsh has served in leadership positions with the International Association of Airport and Seaport Police (IAASP) and the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA).

"Russell understands not just ports but the ties they have to critical infrastructure that needs to be protected," added Albert Samano, Vice President, Security and Emergency Preparedness for TRC. "His broader view is essential as we build emergency management programs for ports that reflect a need for a more regional perspective regarding response and interoperability."

As ports address the demands of changing times and changing infrastructure requirements, they also must make the new systems effective and efficient. "I joined the TRC team so that I could take my experience to another level and assist other Port Authorities with the operational and security challenges they face today," said Whitmarsh.

Whitmarsh is an experienced lecturer at domestic and international conferences and seminars and a published author on maritime command center operations.
