The
expansion is intended to provide PDS customers with assured business continuity through a redundant, quality source of supply as well as accommodate any unforeseen surges in demand.
The announced expansion will include a software controlled 800 Horse Power Farrel F-80 Banbury Mixer, Farrel 84" two roll mill, Davis Standard Extruder and Gala underwater pelletizer, as well as real-time statistical process control and end-to-end material weighing and traceability capabilities. According to PDS President and CEO Donna Scholz, "This expansion plan will increase production capacity to nearly 50 million pounds and is the capital program defined in our Transformation Plan started a year ago by former Booz Allen executive and PDS Chief Operating and Quality Officer Christopher Campbell. This plan defined the blueprint and road map to transform the company into a specialty thermoplastic, thermoplastic elastomer and rubber custom compounding entity which would sell quality through real-time excellence in compounding."
The expansion plan announced today also includes the addition of both counter and co rotating twin screw lines to the Company's wide array of single and twin screw extrusion custom compounding capabilities, as well as expanding its peroxide absorption capabilities utilizing the Company's extensive mixing, blending and tumbling operations. Scholz added that "The new four wing rotor F-80 Banbury line, along with its integrated dual pelletized and strip down stream processes, is a perfect compliment to both our 3D Banbury pelletized compound line and 3D Banbury two roll mill strip compounding line."
The expansion plan, targeted for completion in 2008, was announced by Scholz at a ceremony dedicating the Dayville, Connecticut company headquarters in honor of her late mother, Catherine "Kitty" Scholz, who was the inspiration for the founding of the company. Scholz, who was joined by family members at the ceremony on what would have been their mother's 80th birthday, stated, "With this announcement we have demonstrated our commitment to meet our customers' needs with a quality product and excellent service, aligned with the high standards our mother would have expected, and nothing less."
