SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Phyllis Diller in the spotlight: Robin Skone-Palmer has written a memoir -- Beyond the Spotlight: On the Road With Phyllis Diller -- recalling her days working as a personal secretary for the beloved, ground-breaking comedienne.

Wigeon Publishing is releasing the book on April 1 -- no foolin'.

During the time Skone-Palmer worked for Diller, they shared raucous laughter, mind-numbing boredom, and occasionally absolute terror. The work relationship became a friendship that lasted to the day of Diller's death last August.

After leaving Diller's employment, Skone-Palmer became one of the "Dustbiters," a term Diller coined to affectionately describe her favorite former employees.

Diller even endorsed the memoir (before she died), writing on one of those sticky notes she had used so

often: Robin Skone-Palmer has written a book -- it is FABULOUS!

Skone-Palmer lives in Las Vegas with her two cats. She divides her time between golf, pottery, and teaching after-school Bible clubs. She also collects wine -- at least long enough to chill it before she pulls the cork.
