Andrew Lloyd Webber is at it again. He has released a statement to the via his video blog that he is writing a sequel to his mega Broadway hit, Phantom of the Opera. The Phantom was the longest running musical on Broadway EVER. And now Andrew is trying to repeat the greatness for one more installment.
The sequel isn't anywhere near completion, however, so put your credit cards
away. You can't buy tickets any time soon. It was only in the beginning of March that Lloyd Webber made up his mind.
He does admit he has talked with a few people – who he refuses to name – and that he has an idea in mind for the story. And he confirms the story will be set in New York City.
Lloyd Webber had been collaborating with Frederic Forsyth for a while, but a musical was never completed. The pair ‘split’ with creative differences, but Forsyth released a book titled “Phantom of Manhattan.” There is no word if the new musical is based on that book or if it goes in a completely new direction.
No matter what direction it goes, there is an audience waiting to see what Andrew can do…can he top his past perfection?
