The 2009 Roofing Contractor of the Year : award is given by Roofing Contractor : magazine, which recognized PetersenDean for its leadership role in driving the industry toward the highest quality installations. By selecting from only the best roofing products, including environmentally-friendly materials, such as solar power and ‘cool roof’ : technology, PetersenDean is able to tailor each roof to the specific needs of the customer. In fact, over the past three years, PetersenDean has designed and built more than 10 megawatts of solar energy on the West Coast alone, offsetting more than 10,000 tons of greenhouse gases – that’s the equivalent of taking more than 3,000 cars off the road. These projects include homes, businesses and city, state and federal projects.

The award also acknowledges PetersenDean’s commitment to employee safety and education. In 2002, PetersenDean embarked on one of the most aggressive safety campaigns in the industry, setting aside more than $1 million to provide equipment, training and procedures and has received multiple OSHA awards in both California and Arizona. The company’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program provides state-of-the-art training and testing requirements for new hires, including inspection routines, safe work incentives, accident investigation and hazard communication.
