- Pepco Holdings, Inc. Robert Dobkin, 202-872-2680 In response to calls for mutual assistance, Pepco Holdings, Inc. said today more than 100 employees and contractors would leave Saturday for the Texas coast to help restore power in the wake of Hurricane Ike.

The crews, consisting of more than 50 employees from PHI's three operating utilities, Pepco, Delmarva Power and

Atlantic City Electric, will depart Saturday morning for the 1,300-mile journey in 24 line repair trucks and 12 support vehicles. An additional 20 contract linemen and 40 contract tree clearance personnel drawn from the PHI system will also head to the Gulf Coast.

The workers are expected to be gone for two weeks in a mission similar to one following Hurricane Rita in 2005 which hit virtually the same area.

"We welcome the opportunity to help the people of the Gulf Coast," said PHI Vice President Stan Wisniewski. "Our crews are experienced in storm restoration and take their responsibilities seriously."

Wisniewski said PHI balanced the assignments across its three utility subsidiaries and regions so as not leave any area shorthanded in case of local problems. The contingent includes 12 line personnel from Atlantic City Electric, 18 from Delmarva Power and 10 from Pepco. Several supervisory personnel, safety and vehicle mechanics are part of the contingent in addition to 60 contract personnel who normally work on the PHI system.

Under regional mutual assistance agreements, electric utilities across the nation help each other recover from severe storm damage.

About PHI: Pepco Holdings, Inc., (NYSE:POM) headquartered in Washington, D.C., delivers electricity and natural gas to about 1.9 million customers in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia. Through its subsidiaries Pepco, Delmarva Power and Atlantic City Electric, PHI delivers regulated electricity and natural gas service. PHI provides competitive wholesale generation services through Conectiv Energy and retail energy products and services through Pepco Energy Services.
