Director Geary Barias identified the killed Burdado gang members in their aliases as Joaquin Tato (gang leader), Senior, Junior and Jun Tangkad.
Barias said that his office has monitored the attempt of the group to stage a payroll robbery against a construction firm operating at the Fort.
He said they placed the suspects under surveillance and set up check points in all major intersections in Fort Bonifacio to secure the area.
Joint operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group - NCR, Southern Police District Office (SPDO), and the Taguig City Police encountered the group at a check point set up along McKinley Road.
Barias said the police officers were met with gunshot fire from the suspects, who were on board a maroon Toyota Tamaraw FX with plate number UMS 768 and a motorcycle.
An exchange of gunfire ensued where two of the gang members died on the spot. The two others were pronounced dead upon arrival at the Ospital ng Makati.
The fifth gang member sped away aboard his motorcycle and is now subject of a police manhunt.
Police recovered two firearms, a caliber .45 and .38 revolvers, from the suspects.
Taguig Mayor Freddie R. Tiñga lauded the police for their speedy action and diligence, which pre-empted this notorious group from victimizing a construction firm in the city.
