Raising funds for the Dogs Trust
Because every dog deserves a loving home!
1st April to 30th June at the Rhubarb & Custard Photo Gallery in Eton
Like us, dogs come in all shapes and sizes and that’s particularly true at Rhubarb & Custard, Eton - a photo studio and gallery on Eton High Street, where a bouncy Boxer (“Amber”) and a shnoozing Shih Tzu (“Ming”) can be found enticing the customers and immediately putting them at their ease. And not forgetting, of course, Boo & Bertie - a brace of winsome Whippets who whip up a crowd of supporters outside of the gallery! All four dogs are given the very best in life and are lucky to have such doting owners!
Sadly however, there are many of our four legged friends that still haven’t found their “forever home”. Rhubarb & Custard have therefore decided to help
give them a paw up in life! The Eton gallery’s “Paws for Thought” exhibition, dedicated entirely to our four legged friends, will run from 1st April until 30th June with the aim of raising much needed funds to help The Dogs Trust in the valuable work they do.
Rhubarb & Custard’s passion for dogs is also shared by the famous portrait and fashion photographer, Rankin, who The Dogs Trust recently invited to undertake a series of poochie portraits to bring to the foreground the issue of the rising number of dogs that are abused and left homeless. So in support of the “Paws for Thought” exhibition, Rankin has kindly donated one of his signed, limited edition prints entitled ‘Dogspotting’ that we will be auctioning on the opening of the photographic exhibition.
“We are extremely fortunate and flattered that Rankin is supporting us to raise funds and awareness for such a deserving charity” says Halid Izzet, owner and photographer at Rhubarb & Custard. “We all love taking photos of our beloved four legged friends, and this is a terrific opportunity for anyone to to have their own dogs photos exhibited, while also supporting those who still have a home to find”.
Founded in 1891, Dogs Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK. Their mission is to bring about the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction. The Dogs trust coined the praise ‘A dog is for life, not just for Christmas’ Rankin’s images were used to help highlight the problem of pets being abandoned and how rehoming a dog can change a life.
We want your doggie photos! …
The exhibition represents the chance of having one of your own photographs on the walls of the gallery for the duration of the ‘Paws for Thought” exhibition and even displayed as the centerpiece in the Rhubarb & Custard window. So all you dog lovers get snapping, as any self respecting Yorkshire Terrier would say! Of course, Rhubarb & Custard will be holding one of their infamous opening parties for the exhibition, during which time there will be the auction of the limited edition signed print by Rankin, but other prizes will be raffled including two wash & blow dry pamper sessions, doggie toys and all sorts of other doggie treats for your four legged best friend, contributed by local businesses, Posh-Paws dog grooming in Winkfield, Boo & Bertie online dog products, and WAGS boutique pet shop in Eton.
For the opening day only, Rhubarb and Custard will charge an entrance fee of £2.00 which will be directly donated to The Dogs Trust.
All proceeds from the raffle and 100% of our commission from sales on the evening will also be donated to this wonderful charity. After all -every dog deserves a loving home!
Entrance to see the exhibition is free and open to the public before and after the opening evening from 10.30 – 5.30 Tuesday to Saturday.
All works are available for sale with a percentage of the proceeds going to our local Dogs Trust, who do an amazing job of re-homing thousands of stray and abandoned dogs.
