After viewing the grounds of the wonderful Pashley Manor, no-one could suggest that garden designers in Sussex are losing their talent or enthusiasm.
Pashley Manor is a classic example of a prestigious Sussex English garden which stands as a testament to the skill of the garden designers. Sussex is home to many beautiful gardens. Indeed, it is known as South East England’s garden country.
Pashley is the Place to be to Learn about Garden Designers. Sussex is rich with Green-Fingered Talent!
Pashley Manor offers a lavish blend of romantic landscaping, imaginative plantings and fine old trees, fountains, springs and large ponds. The existing house has been repeatedly re-built throughout time, and stands with a Tudor front (1550), Queen Anne rear (1720) and 11 acres of award winning gardens. There is evidence of gardening at Pashley from the 16th Century and the park has 500-year
old oak trees, indicating that garden designers, Sussex designers specifically, have been respected professionals in England for hundreds of years.
The Current Gardens were the Creation of Legendary Garden Designer
Mr and Mrs James Sellick are the present owners and inhabitants of Pashley Manor, a Grade I listed timber-framed house, dating from 1550. They opened their beautiful gardens to the public in 1992, having brought them to their present splendour with the assistance of the late, great garden designer, Sussex favourite, Anthony du Gard Pasley who sadly passed away last year, and their team of garden designers. Sussex is a wonderful place to visit during the summer, and Pashley Manor is just one reason for this.
Pashley’s Gardens offer Unparalleled Views of Sussex
The designer gardens offer colour and interest throughout the year, as well as magnificent views from the terrace to Brightling Beacon and across the Sussex countryside. The top designer gardens in Sussex are open from April to September, but in whichever month you choose to visit there is something to delight the senses. From late March wild daffodils and narcissi herald the beginning of the spring flowers. From April to May the various fruit trees blossom, bluebells carpet the woodland, the outstanding wisteria cascades down the rear of the Manor house and there are thousands of tulips throughout the gardens. June is known for roses and lavender while in July the scent of sweet peas and lilies perfume the air.
