2008-10-21 07:23:55 - A new Vegan Magazine launched on World Vegan Day targets adult vegetarians and eco consumers with no hold's barred content.

Publishers of a new ethical vegan magazine due to debut on World Vegan Day November the 1st - have denied their magazine ‘Off the Hoof' has been subject to censorship over it's x-rated content.

'We've allowed an endless amount of drivel in this magazine's first edition, nothing was censored. We are hoping it's so bad that respected ethical journalists the world over will submit articles for free so that the 2nd edition of the magazine isn't so embarrassing to the international vegan community' says the editor of ‘Off the Hoof', vegan pub landlord Al Slurry from publishers the Yaoh hemp company, Bristol.

'We've not used any words that you won't find in a newspaper such as The Guardian but I must admit

the adult content was intended to inspire apathetic vegan adults rather than their apathetic children. We wrote it for grown ups that haven't yet grown up but we think it will have a far greater appeal than just vegetarians - it doesn't preach - it's more of a window on the world of veganism. It's great for ethical voyeurs!'

The editorial team at ‘Off the Hoof' have followed a typically award winning format for their ethical magazine. There is celebrity gossip about vegetarian and vegan celebrities such as Natalie Portman, Chrissie Hynde, Paul McCartney, Chris Martin, Oprah Winfrey and Victoria Beckham. There are the usual recipe features from award winning vegan chefs. Off the Hoof has travel features, new product features and a dreadful jokes page which if nothing else should inspire a fruitful letters page in the next issue. A wide range of topics are covered from cross dressing (up skirt shots) to eating disorders (sword swallowing).

A concerned mother and amateur child psychologist said today 'There's no way children should be subjected to this kind of filth. It's full of public house gutter language and radical extremist concepts that could lead young minds astray. Lord knows it's hard enough to get children to eat a balanced diet as it is'

Al Slurry responded 'We take our responsibilities over the health of vegetarians and vegans very seriously that's why we have recruited two leading clinical nutritionists to our long list of contributors. My pal Large Tone is a very good chef too, and he's even published a vegan cookbook - so there. There's nothing like healthier than average vegans to encourage more people to explore this lifestyle that's kinder to people, animals and the environment.'

There is currently no independent vegan magazine on the magazine racks and it's anticipated that sales of this idiosyncratic title will soon blossom into a must-have-read. 'Most of the other veggie/vegan/ethical titles are published by charities. We don't suffer from the same editorial constraints that they do!' says Al Slurry, whose team of writers, designers and sales make up both his bar and also his pub football team, Off The Hoof FC. 'The number of UK vegans is estimated to have rocketed into the millions this year. That's our target audience - over 1 million vegans and the 7 million self declared vegetarians - not to mention all the meat eaters out there who like a bubble!'
