2013-03-07 14:37:52 - The third editions of Paperworld Middle East and Playworld Middle East, the co-located trade fairs organised by Epoc Messe Frankfurt, came to a successful close after three busy days of deal making, contract signing and business networking.

Strong trade response indicator of region’s potential: Pauwels

The strong response from regional trade buyers and leading international brands further highlighted the fact that Paperworld Middle East and Playworld Middle East, in three short years, have become credible business platforms within their respective industry sectors.

“Both Paperworld Middle East and Playworld Middle East are events serving industries that see the Middle East as a market of enormous potential,” said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt. “That the exhibitions have garnered tremendous support from international exhibitors despite being new on the scene, not only highlights the significance of the regional market but also the value of these trade fairs as business enablers.”

There were more than a few product launches by

exhibitors at both exhibitions as well as a range of innovative products and services being showcased for the first time in the region. At Paperworld Middle East, Dutch company Royal Talens had the international launch of their latest range of water mixable oil paints – a world first innovation. Their products proved very popular amongst trade buyers and will soon be on the shelves of arts & crafts retailers across the region.

Organisers reported a noticeable increase in trade buyers looking for prospective suppliers from the African continent at Paperworld Middle East.

There was also considerable interest in the dedicated Green Office Area which highlighted recyclable and environmentally friendly products that were available at the fair. The Green Office Area enjoyed the support of the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water and was designed to enable easy access to trade visitors interested in sourcing ‘green’ products.

Speaking about the initiative earlier, His Excellency, Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad, UAE Minister of Environment and Water had said: “Promoting environmental sustainability is high on our agenda. We encourage initiatives which raise awareness on sustainable products such as the Green Office Area at Paperworld Middle East and encourage everyone to do their part in making the UAE an eco friendly place.”

While the various toys and games at Playworld Middle East attracted large numbers of buyers, there was also a constant stream of visitors to the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) stand. With one of the main themes at Playworld Middle East being toy safety, officials at the ESMA stand were busy explaining the latest guidelines that regulate the toy industry in the region to regional and international visitors.

Exhibiting for the third straight year was Kool Toolz, showcasing two main products – the Kool Toolz range of school stationery and the Ambassador range of office stationery. Brian D’ Souza, Vice President – Exports, said: “The exhibition has benefitted our business in a very good way. We‘ve met old clients and made many new clients from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Over the first two days we have had more than 200 visitors to our stand. “

Trade visitors from across the region were present on all three days of the exhibitions. Roozbeh Babachahi, Managing Director of Trueway Star was happy with the range of products available at Playworld Middle East. He said that he was on the lookout for new automatic games and toys for children.

Divisional Manager of Emirates Trading Establishment, Saji Abraham, was visiting Paperworld Middle East for the third straight year. “This is a great venue to meet new clients in the office supplies section. I have met potential clients and am looking for more, “he said.
