Jessica Back, Public Relations, 937-291-2195 x28 jessica.back@panini.com For the third year in a row, Panini, the market leader in distributed check capture, participated in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's (JDRF) Walk to Cure Diabetes in Dayton, Ohio. Company employees organized and participated in multiple fundraising activities, including a
bowling tournament and silent auction, to raise thousands of dollars that was then matched by the company.
"We feel strongly that it's our duty to share our success and to give back to the local community. JDRF is making a real difference in the lives of children and young adults with diabetes, so we are delighted to contribute to their efforts," says Doug Roberts, President, Panini North America.
Panini began participating in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes in 2005 and was voted the Top New Corporate Team based on participation level. The company puts together a t-shirt design contest each year to create team apparel for the event, and, according to Doug Roberts "Panini employees put a lot of effort into fundraising, and really enjoy doing it."
JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is a disease which strikes children suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump. Insulin, however, is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation.
