2008-11-05 18:55:09 - Students and Parents Invited to Learn About Padua's New MedTrack™ High School Pre-Medical Program

CLEVELAND, OH (November 5, 2008) - Padua Franciscan High School will host an open house on Sunday, November 9, 2008, from 1-4 PM at their Parma campus at 6740 State Road, which will include a special display on the new MedTrack program. MedTrack is a four-year advanced science track offered by Padua Franciscan High School and is designed to help

students develop the skills, knowledge, and relationships needed for success in the medical profession and in Cleveland's medical community.

'We are very pleased to introduce the MedTrack program and welcome interested students and their parents to join us at the Padua open house,' said David Stec, Principal of Padua Franciscan. 'Students can ask questions, tour the school, and meet our faculty, and learn about the advantages of our programs.'

Padua alumni and their sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade children will have the opportunity to participate in Mass at 11 AM, followed by VIP tours of the school afterwards.

The advanced science in the MedTrack curriculum offers a significant advantage when students continue on to pre-medical programs at the university level. Participation in MedTrack allows students to shadow medical professionals to experience medical careers firsthand. MedTrack's relationship-building component ensures that Padua students develop strong connections to the Northeast Ohio medical community. Whether they choose to become physicians, researchers, or clinicians, MedTrack students receive personal attention and firsthand experience.

The MedTrack program was conceived, in part, to meet the growing interest in medical-related careers among Padua students. The new curriculum offers students excellent preparation for pre-med studies at the university level and advanced studies. Starting in the freshman year, medical professionals will mentor and provide role models for students.

Interested students can sign up now for the MedTrack program for the 2009 freshman school year. Application and requirements can be found on the Padua website, www.paduafranciscan.com/medtrack.

Padua Franciscan is the largest private, co-educational secondary school in northeast Ohio. It is one of the few schools officially chartered by the State of Ohio as college-preparatory. In 2004 and 2006, Padua was named one of the nation's top 50 Catholic secondary schools by the Acton Institute. Padua is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools as well as the Ohio Catholic Schools Accrediting Agency.
