Pacific-Ice recently installed its first synthetic ice rink in a private home in the sunny hills of San Jose, California. The rink allows his client's kids to gain valuable ice time while at home. Pacific-Ice has invented a propriety technology that prevents synthetic ice rinks from failing at the seams, a product error that has plagued this type of installation in the past. Strachan, who has a childhood love and in-depth knowledge of ice hockey, used his background in contracting and landscaping to solve the gapping problem. Synthetic ice rinks require very little maintenance and are made of an engineered, high-density polymer ethylene (plastic surface) that mimics a refrigerated ice surface. The installation of a Pacific-Ice synthetic outdoor ice hockey rink takes approximately a month to install and the cost is comparable to a high-end swimming pool.
