ARLINGTON, TEXAS - RPR - 02/21/14 - -- OZ Systems : ozsystems.com/ , a leading provider of public health information systems and interoperability, will participate in the 2014 HIMSS : www.himss.org/ Interoperability Showcase, taking place February 23–27, in Orlando, Fla. OZ Systems’ presentation, in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) National Center for Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities and their National Center for Health Statistics, will show how public health sends critical care information to providers’ electronic health records and receives information from providers using health information technology standards-based solutions.
The HIMSS Interoperability Showcase is a live, fully manned, interactive environment where health IT solution providers can collaborate to maximize the collective impact of their

technologies. Participants are invited to demonstrate their innovations in the showcase, and this year, HIMSS has significantly expanded it by merging with the Meaningful Use Experience to emphasize how collaborative technology is vital to the realization of connected health across the U.S. healthcare landscape.
“At the upcoming HIMSS Showcase,” says Dr. Terese Finitzo, CEO of OZ Systems, “we’ll show how implementation of standards-based, electronic forms simplifies and facilitates timely reporting of important birth information to Vital Registration after a baby’s birth. “
Additionally, OZ Systems will highlight its Newborn Admission Notification Information ( NANI : ozsystems.com/node/62 ) message and Early Hearing Care Plan (EHCP) for the CDC Early Hearing Detection and Intervention ( EHDI : ozsystems.com/hearing ) program. NANI assists Public Health obtain an accurate denominator of hospital births and is a valuable tool in quality reporting. It is a Stage 2 Meaningful Use objective for hospitals to report the percentage of newborns screened for hearing loss before hospital discharge. The EHCP helps assure that critical early hearing care information on each newborn is delivered by public health or hospital Electronic Health Records (EHR) to a pediatrician’s EHR.
The HIMSS event comes on the heels of another remarkable showing for OZ Systems at the 15th Annual Connectathon NA (North America) held earlier in February.
OZ Systems conducted more than 70 full-scale interoperability tests during rigorous trials at the event, which attracted more than 500 software systems engineers from over 100 companies and organizations with the sole aim of making divergent health IT systems speak to one another in a common language. Organized by the non-profit association Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) USA, Connectathon serves as a forum for OZ Systems engineers and design teams to test their systems against a common communication profile developed by IHE for healthcare. The team then uses that profile to connect with other health IT systems, and the result is successful, mutually beneficial data-swapping among leading health IT professionals.
