OZ Systems Leaders Selected To Share Health IT Guidance For Newborn Hearing Screening At 2014 Ehdi Conference

GLENDALE, AZ - RPR - 04/10/14 - - OZ Systems : ozsystems.com/ , a leading provider of public health information systems and interoperable exchange, will participate in the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention ( EHDI : ehdimeeting.org/ ) Conference taking place April 13-15 in Jacksonville, Florida. The meeting is held annually to enhance the implementation of comprehensive state-based EHDI programs.
OZ Systems features a team of 16 clinical and technical specialists who focus on EHDI programs and IT solutions : www.ozsystems.com/hearing for early hearing detection and intervention and other mandated newborn health programs. The team will be on hand to discuss how to share data between hospitals and public health, measure and improve quality and explore

point-of-care newborn screenings, birth defects and EHDI-specific, interoperable health data systems. OZ Systems collaborates with 12 states and territories as well as seven international programs to provide important clinical and public health benchmarks around robust data integration for newborn screening, diagnostic evaluation, early intervention, follow-up, reporting and surveillance.
Three of OZ Systems’ leaders will be presenting at the conference:
Mary Catherine Hess, OZ Systems’ Program Coordinator for the Texas EHDI (TEHDI) program, will present on strategic partnerships between hospitals and IT companies to populate public health information systems, Monday, April 14, 2:00pm-2:30pm, Hyatt Regency Jacksonville-Riverfront – St. John’s Room.
Lura Daussat, OZ Systems’ Program Coordinator and HL7 author of the EHDI messaging standard, will be presenting on two topics:
Session 1: Interoperability between hospitals and public health in newborn hearing screening, Tuesday, April 15, 11:00am-11:30am, Hyatt Regency Jacksonville-Riverfront – Great Ballroom 2.
Session 2: Critical connections between early hearing screening programs and health IT, Tuesday, April 15, 11:30am-12:00pm, Hyatt Regency Jacksonville-Riverfront – Great Ballroom 2.
Brenee Mitchell, OZ Systems’ Program Coordinator, audiology expert and international EHDI implementer, will be co-presenting a poster session on the benefits of data integration for state programs.
“It’s been an exciting year to work with states to enhance and integrate their programs. We now have the opportunity to forge a clear pathway for maternal and child health programs with a change in attitude about newborn screening. Information management and meaningful data collection in public health will be the prime catalysts for this change,” said Dr. Terese Finitzo, CEO of OZ Systems. “We’ve been privileged to tackle these challenges with state and federal agencies in a way that enhances workflow and data integration for hospitals and public health while also improving outcomes for children.”
Dr. Finitzo is a pediatric audiologist who has spent the past decade collaborating with clinicians and public health to improve data collection and reporting of newborn screening results.  OZ Systems continues to rank among world leaders in the development and implementation of IT platforms and information systems that enable early detection, intervention and follow-up services in support of improved outcomes for young patients.
